Welcome to Kill Kare Kamp
Kill Kare is uniquely located in a pine forest on the shores of a pristine freshwater lake on the Blue Hill Peninsula of Maine's Down East coast - only 1/4 mile inland from the ocean waters of the Penobscot Bay. So named because you can go there to “kill your cares,” the cottage has been in our family since it was built in 1917. There is a warm spirit about this home that provides both energy and peace - a place to recharge and to unwind. It is an ideal family retreat where you can do as much or as little as you please. It’s deeply wooded site on a sparkling lake offers a beautiful setting to enjoy a variety of water sports as well as the perfect base from which to explore the beauty that is Maine and the scenic towns that dot the nearby coast: Blue Hill, Deer Isle, Stonington, Castine, Camden, Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor.
Reached by a mile-long private drive, Kill Kare is situated directly on the shores of Walker Pond. Sitting on the generous porch - which faces west - imagine that you are on your own personal yacht, sipping a drink while watching a stunning sunset or enjoying the frequent sightings of loons and eagles. A small private dock and swim float enhance lake access for swimming and boating. Inside, an inviting living room is anchored by a large fieldstone fireplace. There is also a dining room and a well-equipped country kitchen with eat-in space. Six bedrooms comfortably accommodate ten guests.
Please join us and let the sound of the gently lapping waves soothe your soul as your cares just slip away. This is lakeside living at its best.
We welcome you to Kill Kare with our warmest best wishes.
